About this resource

Description

How to teach Colors

Using Color Word Activity, students match color pictures, words, and objects to build their recognition of colors, then create a color word book.

This activity helps students to identify colors and practice writing the color word underneath the picture. This activity is perfect for early finishers or literacy centers.

Students match color cards to colored mice to build their color recognition skills. Then, students create a color book as a reference guide.

Other resources to use with this Color Word Activity

If you are using this activity, your students are probably learning about colors.

Use this Color Word Worksheet as an additional resource for your students.

Introduce this activity by showing your students classroom objects. Next, ask them to help you identify which color is being shown. As students share a different color, write that color word (in that color!) on an anchor chart. Then, students complete activity independently or with a partner. Finally, challenge students to write sentences using color words.
