Counting by tens is one of the first number patterns a young child learns to hear, to say, and to see. Once a student can count 10, 20, 30 all the way to 100, they are building the foundation for place value, addition, and every kind of skip counting that comes later. This counting by tens assessment worksheet gives you a quick, clear picture of whether your Kindergarten students can hold that pattern on their own instead of chanting it along with the class. Because the numbers are written rather than spoken, you can see exactly where a child hesitates and which decade numbers still need practice.
The worksheet has two short parts. In the first part, students fill in the missing numbers on a counting track that runs from 10 to 100, so they have to keep the pattern going rather than copy a finished list.
