Reading comprehension is the skill of understanding, remembering, and thinking about what a story actually says. Strong readers do far more than sound out words. They follow a sequence of events, notice why one thing causes another, and work out what an unfamiliar word means from the sentence around it. This More Turkey Please Reading Comprehension Worksheet hands fourth graders a full two-page Thanksgiving story and then asks them to prove what they understood using evidence from the text. That pairing, a real story worth reading followed by questions that send students back into it, is what builds comprehension that lasts well beyond a single worksheet.
This 4th grade reading comprehension worksheet tells the story of Makayla and her cousin Richard, who take charge of the Thanksgiving turkey for the very first time and run into one problem after another. Students read the story across the first two pages and then move on to the question page. Use it as independent practice, as a reading-group text, as homework, or as a quick check before a holiday break. Because the passage is written at a fourth-grade reading level, most students can work through it on their own while you meet with small groups.

There are three reasons this More Turkey Please Reading Comprehension Worksheet helps students grow as readers. Around Thanksgiving, pair the sheet with a real kitchen job at home, such as measuring, timing, or following a recipe, so children see the same kind of problem solving in action.
