About this resource
Description
Before a child can add or subtract, they have to know which number comes first. This numerical order worksheet gives kindergarten students four short sets of single-digit numbers, all mixed up, and asks them to write each set again in order from least to greatest. It is quiet, focused practice with the numbers 0 through 9, the exact range a kindergartner is learning to read, write, and compare.
The page is made for Kindergarten. It has a Name and Date line, one clear direction line, and four numbered cards. Each card shows five numbers across the top and five large printed boxes underneath, sized for kindergarten handwriting, so there is real room to form each digit. No set is already in order and no set begins with its own smallest number, so a child has to compare the numbers rather than copy them straight down. A full answer key is included on the second page.

Why It Helps Kids

Ideas for Teachers and Parents
Before writing, hand out number cards and let children stand in order as a group, then say the numbers aloud together. Ask a child to point to the smallest number in a set and explain how they know.
