Rounding is one of the first big estimation skills a fourth grader meets, and it starts at the tens place. This rounding to tens worksheet asks students to look at a multi-digit number, find the ones digit, and decide whether the number moves up to the next ten or stays at the ten below it. That single decision sits at the heart of CCSS 4.NBT.A.3, which asks students to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place. Once children can round confidently to the nearest ten, rounding to hundreds, thousands, and beyond becomes the same move applied one place further to the left.
This 4th grade rounding worksheet gives twelve numbers, from three digits all the way up to six digits, each printed in its own card with a roomy answer box underneath. Students write the rounded number inside the box, which keeps the work tidy and makes the page easy to grade at a glance.
