How to teach Opposites
Using Same or Different Activity, students usethe picture cards to practice visually discriminating things that are the same and/or different.
Knowing the differences between opposites is important for your students. This activity will help your students find opposite pairs.
Place the “Same” and “Different” sorting mats in front of you. Look at the two pictures on each card. then, decide if the pictures on the card are the same or different and sort it onto the correct mat.After sorting the picture cards, complete the worksheet provided.

Introduce this activity by reviewing opposites using the Opposite Flash Cards. Next, students play the Opposite Game. Whatever the caller tells them to do, they need to do the opposite. For example, if the caller says “Sit down”, students should stand up. Then, students complete activity independently. Finally, students share more examples of opposite pairs from the activity. Once finished, students write sentences using the opposites that they have learned.
