Few things make a beach day better than building something out of sand, and this Sand Castles Reading Comprehension Worksheet turns that fun into real reading practice. Most children have pressed wet sand into a bucket, but they rarely stop to think about the steps. A short informational passage walks through them in order: why wet sand works and dry sand does not, how a big bucket makes the base, how smaller buckets and a cone add towers with pointy tops, and why a castle should be built far from the waves.
This 1st grade reading comprehension worksheet is built for beginning readers. Page one carries a 106-word passage in large type under a full-width beach picture, and page two asks five multiple-choice questions with three answer choices each, drawn from every paragraph of the passage. Read the passage aloud together first, then let children reread it on their own before they fill in the bubbles. A complete answer key is included on the last page so the sheet can be checked in seconds.
