What’s inside the FAST 4th grade math test prep workbook
Every page has a job. The workbook follows the order you’d actually teach: find out what students know, teach the gaps, mix it all together, then rehearse the real thing.
Pretest + scoring guide
19 questions and a guide that shows which skills to teach first.
Learn It + practice
A worked example, then test-style practice, for all 39 assessed benchmarks.
Mixed review
47 questions that pull every reporting category together.
Test-taking strategies
Short, practical tips written for 4th graders.
2 full-length practice tests
38 questions each, in FAST question styles, with bubble answer sheets.
Answer key + trackers
363 answers tied to benchmarks, plus progress trackers, a class data sheet and a certificate.
The question types match what students see on the computer-based test: multiple choice, typed answers, matching, multiselect, drop-down choices and two-part questions. When kids have already met those formats, test day is about the math, not the buttons.

How does the Interactive Workbook work?
The Interactive Workbook is the same workbook, live in the browser. It runs on interactive whiteboards, touch panels, Chromebooks and tablets, and there’s nothing to install. It works like test day, so students practice the routine as well as the math.
Everything reads aloud
Directions, questions and answer choices are read aloud, so reading never gets in the way of the math.
Students answer, then turn in
Just like the real test: no hints and no instant right-or-wrong while they work.
A score for each section
When a section is turned in, students see their score and which skills they’ve got.
Try it again
Students can try a section again with new versions of the questions.
Want to see it first? Open the free preview on your classroom board tonight, read-aloud included, with no account needed. Two minutes in, you’ll know whether it fits your class.

When do Florida 4th graders take the FAST math test?
Florida students take the FAST three times a year. The spring test (PM3) is the one that counts for accountability, and for 2026–27 the grades 3–10 window runs May 3–28, 2027. The winter check (PM2) opens November 30. Here’s an easy way to spread your FAST 4th grade math test prep across the year so April never turns into a cram session.
Now: give the pretest
Score it with the guide and circle the skills each student needs most.
Fall into winter: teach the gaps
Use one Learn It + practice set a few times a week, in the order your pretest points to.
Winter: mix it up
Mixed review keeps multiplication and place value fresh while you teach fractions and angles.
March: Practice Test 1
Run it like test day, then reteach the skills that slipped.
April: Practice Test 2
A second full run builds stamina and shows real growth.
May: celebrate
Hand out the certificate. They worked hard for it.
Districts set their own days inside each window, so check your school calendar. For the benchmarks themselves and the latest test design, see the Florida Department of Education’s B.E.S.T. assessment page. Our Florida test prep page keeps every testing window and every Florida workbook in one place.
Members: assign it in HFT Classroom
With a Have Fun Teaching membership, the Printable PDF and the Interactive Workbook are included. Assign any section to your class in HFT Classroom, and students sign in with a class link and a picture, with no student emails. You see their scores and the skills they missed. See how HFT Classroom works.

FAST 4th grade math test prep: questions teachers ask
Is this workbook made by the Florida Department of Education?
No. Have Fun Teaching wrote every question from scratch. The workbook is aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. math benchmarks and built from the state’s published FAST test design, so it prepares students for the test, but it is an independent practice resource and does not use released state test items.
What’s the difference between the editions?
The Printable PDF ($9.99) is all 198 pages to print. The Interactive Workbook ($9.99) is the same workbook in the browser, read aloud and scored when students turn in each section. The Bundle ($14.99) gives you both. The School License ($49.97) covers one whole school. The full-color paperback is $29.99 on Amazon.
What 4th grade math skills does the workbook cover?
It covers all 39 assessed grade 4 B.E.S.T. math benchmarks, each with a Learn It lesson and practice. That includes place value and rounding, multi-digit multiplication and division, equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, decimals, factors and patterns, measurement, angles, area and perimeter, and data. The pretest shows which benchmarks each student needs most.
Is the workbook included in a Have Fun Teaching membership?
Yes. Members get the Printable PDF and the Interactive Workbook at no extra cost, and they can assign it to their class in HFT Classroom. The paperback is a printed book sold by Amazon, so it is not part of the membership. Memberships start with 3 free days.
When do Florida 4th graders take the FAST math test?
The FAST is given three times a year, at the beginning, middle and end of the school year. The spring test, PM3, is the one that counts for accountability, and for 2026–27 the grades 3–10 window is May 3 to May 28, 2027. Districts choose their own testing days inside each window.
