Kindergarten FAST math looks nothing like a paper test. Five-year-olds put on headphones, listen, and tap answers on a computer, often for the very first time. If you’re searching for FAST kindergarten math test prep that fits little hands and short attention spans, you’re in the right place.
The Florida FAST Kindergarten Math Practice Test Workbook is aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. math benchmarks and built from the state’s published FAST K–2 test design. Every question is original, with friendly pictures and directions written for kids who are just starting to read.
It comes four ways: a Printable PDF, an Interactive Workbook that reads everything aloud, a Bundle with both, and a full-color paperback on Amazon. Here’s what’s inside, a quick look-inside video, and a simple plan for the rest of the year. The winter FAST check opens November 30, so now is a great time to start.
- A 17-question pretest, Learn It + practice for all 22 kindergarten B.E.S.T. benchmarks, 22 mixed review questions, test-taking strategies, 2 full-length practice tests and a 251-answer key.

What’s inside the FAST kindergarten math test prep workbook
Every page has a job. The workbook follows the order you’d actually teach: find out what students know, teach the gaps, mix it all together, then practice the real routine in short, kid-sized parts.
Pretest + scoring guide
17 questions and a guide that shows which skills to teach first.
Learn It + practice
A worked example, then test-style practice, for all 22 kindergarten benchmarks.
Mixed review
22 questions that bring every skill back around.
Test-taking strategies
Simple tips for listening, looking at every choice and taking their time.
2 full-length practice tests
34 questions each, split into two short parts. Kids mark answers right in the book.
Answer key + trackers
251 answers tied to benchmarks, plus progress trackers, a class data sheet and a certificate.
The kindergarten FAST is all multiple choice. Most questions have four answer choices, and some have two or three when the skill calls for it. The workbook uses the same styles, so the format already feels familiar when test day comes.

How does the Interactive Workbook work?
The Interactive Workbook is the same workbook, live in the browser. It runs on interactive whiteboards, touch panels, Chromebooks and tablets, and there’s nothing to install. Hand out headphones and kids practice the exact routine they’ll use on test day: listen, look, tap.
Everything reads aloud
Directions, questions and answer choices are read aloud, so kids who aren’t reading yet can still show what they know.
Students answer, then turn in
Just like the real test: no hints and no instant right-or-wrong while they work.
A score for each section
When a section is turned in, students see their score and which skills they’ve got.
Try it again
Students can try a section again with new versions of the questions.

When do Florida kindergartners take the FAST math test?
Kindergartners take the FAST three times a year. For 2026–27 the windows are August 3 to September 25 (PM1), November 30 to January 22 (PM2) and April 12 to May 28, 2027 (PM3). The test has 34 questions, adjusts to each child and usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Here’s an easy way to spread your FAST kindergarten math test prep across the year.
Now: give the pretest
Read it aloud in small groups, score it with the guide and circle the skills each child needs most.
Before PM2: practice the routine
Try one short Interactive section with headphones so listening and tapping feel normal.
Winter: teach the gaps
Use one Learn It + practice set a few times a week, in the order your pretest points to.
February: mix it up
Mixed review brings counting, shapes and adding back around so nothing fades.
March: Practice Test 1
Give Part 1 one day and Part 2 the next, then reteach what slipped.
Early April: Practice Test 2
One more full run before the spring window opens April 12. Then hand out the certificate!
Districts set their own days inside each window, so check your school calendar. For the test design and this year’s dates, see the Florida Department of Education’s 2026–27 FAST K–2 fact sheet. Our Florida test prep page keeps every testing window and every Florida workbook in one place.
Members: assign it in HFT Classroom

Assign any section to your class in HFT Classroom, and students sign in with a class link and a picture, with no student emails. You see their scores and the skills they missed. FAST kindergarten math test prep: questions teachers ask
Is this workbook made by the Florida Department of Education?
No. Have Fun Teaching wrote every question from scratch. The workbook is aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. math benchmarks and built from the state’s published FAST K–2 test design, so it prepares students for the test, but it is an independent practice resource and does not use released state test items.
What kindergarten math skills does the workbook cover?
It covers all 22 kindergarten B.E.S.T. math benchmarks, each with a Learn It lesson and practice. That includes counting to 100, counting objects to 20, comparing numbers, teen numbers as ten and some ones, adding and subtracting within 10, making 10, story problems, comparing length and weight, shapes, and sorting and counting.
How do kindergartners take the FAST math test?
Kindergartners take FAST math on a computer, using Renaissance Star Math, with headphones on. The test adapts to each child and has 34 multiple-choice questions. It usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes in one session, and audio is available on questions that may be hard to read.
What’s the difference between the editions?
The Printable PDF ($9.99) is all 166 pages to print. The Interactive Workbook ($9.99) is the same workbook in the browser, read aloud and scored when students turn in each section. The Bundle ($14.99) gives you both. The School License ($49.97) covers one whole school. The full-color paperback is $29.99 on Amazon.
Is the workbook included in a Have Fun Teaching membership?
Yes. Members get the Printable PDF and the Interactive Workbook at no extra cost, and they can assign it to their class in HFT Classroom. The paperback is a printed book sold by Amazon, so it is not part of the membership. Memberships start with 3 free days.
