In this 3.MD.4 Third Grade Common Core Lesson, students generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch.
This lesson teaches students how to measure objects to the nearest quarter, half, and whole inch. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, measure each item to the nearest quarter, half, and whole inch. Then, record the lengths on the activity sheet. Complete the Plotting Measurement sheet individually or with a partner. Finally, show how much you’ve learned by completing Ticket Out the Door by yourself.
