Adding 8 to a number is a key set of facts for first graders, and word problems show children why the facts matter. This adding 8 word problems worksheet turns the plus-eight facts into five short stories about crayons, boats, pies, blocks and seeds, so students read, picture the story and then add.
Each story has two simple sentences. The first tells how many things a child has, and the second says the child gets 8 more.
