Putting words in ABC order is one of the first dictionary skills young readers learn, and it starts with the very first letter of each word. The Alphabetical Order To The First Letter Worksheet gives 1st graders a clear, friendly way to practice this step. Every word on the page begins with a different letter, so children only need to look at the first letter and ask where it falls in the alphabet. Students read ten simple words in the word box: kite, drum, sock, apple, nest, yarn, bike, tent, fish and lamp. Then they write the words in ABC order on the ten numbered lines.
