The Holidays Reading Comprehension Worksheet gives fifth graders a short informational passage about why people set certain days apart, and then asks them to prove what they understood. The passage explains what a holiday is, how celebrations follow the seasons, why food and music carry family memory, and what a day of remembrance teaches. Students then answer four multiple-choice questions, complete one fill-in-the-blank sentence, and write two short constructed responses that require evidence from the text.
This Holidays Reading Comprehension Worksheet is a three-page printable. Page one holds the illustrated passage, written and measured at a fifth-grade reading level. Page two holds the seven questions, which move from main idea to supporting detail to vocabulary in context. Page three is the complete answer key, including sample wording for the two written responses.
