How to teach Counting
Using Let’s Use a Number Line Activity, students represent whole-number sums and differences within 100 on a number line diagram.
Being able to count forwards and backwards from any number is an important skill for your students. In this case, it is a strategy for students to use when adding. This activity gives them the practice they need with a new strategy to solve addition problems.
Students will shuffle cards and place in a pile. Students will begin at fifty on the number line and then move based on the directions on the card. As students move on the number line, they will write the equation on the score sheet. The first player to 100 wins!
