Multiplication and division undo each other, and a fact family is the clearest way to show it. Three numbers such as 3, 7 and 21 make four true number sentences, and once a student sees that, a division fact stops being something new to memorize and becomes a multiplication fact read backward. This multiplication division fact families worksheet gives 3rd grade students focused practice building all four facts from one set of three numbers.
Four numbered cards each hold three numbers and four writing lines, so students write two multiplication facts and two division facts for every card. A worked example at the top of the page models all four sentences before students begin. The page finishes with a word problem about a garden, where students solve a real division question and then write the multiplication fact that checks their answer.
