Getting to know the people in a classroom is one of the first steps toward a room where every child feels welcome, and this my teacher worksheet gives second graders a friendly way to begin. At the start of the year students are curious about the adult at the front of the room, but they rarely know how to ask. Interviewing is a real social studies skill: ask a clear question, listen carefully to the answer, and write down what you heard. Practicing that skill with a familiar person makes it easy to learn and fun to use, and it builds the classroom community that back to school season is all about.
This my teacher worksheet gives students five interview prompts with a wide, solid writing line under each one, so there is plenty of room for a second grader to record what the teacher says. Children ask for their teacher’s name, favorite book, favorite food, a place the teacher likes to visit, and one thing the teacher is good at. Then they draw a picture of their teacher at school in the large drawing box at the bottom of the page.
