This Oklahoma Word Search Worksheet helps students learn about the state of Oklahoma while they practice finding and reading words inside a letter puzzle. A word search builds letter-by-letter attention, left-to-right tracking, and spelling recognition, and every hidden word in this one names something real about the state: the wheat and cotton grown on its farms, the redbud trees that bloom pink each spring, the bison that graze its grasslands, the wide prairie that covers much of the state, and the tornadoes that put Oklahoma in the middle of Tornado Alley.
The sheet has two parts. In Part A, students find and circle six words from the word box in an eleven-by-eleven grid. The words run across, down, and on the diagonal, so children have to search the whole puzzle carefully instead of scanning in one direction. In Part B, students write the word from the box that matches the meaning of the bold word in each sentence, which turns the puzzle into real vocabulary practice about Oklahoma.
