This Princess Disease Reading Comprehension Worksheet gives fifth graders an original informational passage about a habit that students in Korea jokingly call the princess disease: acting as if you are better than everyone around you. The passage explains what the habit looks like, why it spreads, what it costs, and how humility works as the cure. It pairs close reading with character education, so students practice comprehension while thinking about kindness and teamwork.
The passage runs across two pages at a true fifth grade reading level, with key words such as conceited, confident, comparison, and humility defined right in the sentences that introduce them. A questions page follows with four multiple-choice items that cover vocabulary in context, a stated reason, an inference, and the central idea of the whole text. A two-part written response then asks students to explain one way the habit hurts a person and one way to practice humility, using details from the passage.
