Reducing fractions is one of the biggest steps a fourth grader takes toward fluent fraction work, and this Reducing Fractions Worksheet gives students the focused practice they need. Students look at a fraction, find the greatest common factor of the numerator and the denominator, and then divide both numbers by it to write the fraction in lowest terms. Every fraction on the page reduces cleanly, so students can concentrate on the reasoning instead of getting stuck on messy arithmetic. This reducing fractions worksheet builds directly on equivalent fractions and prepares students for adding, subtracting, comparing, and ordering fractions later in the year.
