Rounding is the first place where students stop calculating an exact answer and start reasoning about which number is close enough. This round to the nearest hundred worksheet teaches that reasoning directly: before a child rounds anything, they name the two hundreds the number sits between, and only then decide which one it is nearer to. That single habit turns a rule students often memorize backwards into something they can see and defend.
The chart on this printable does the work in one direction, row by row. Students read a three-digit number, write the hundred that comes before it, write the hundred that comes after it, and finally write the hundred it rounds to. Because every row asks for all three, the number line lives in the student’s head instead of on the page, and the halfway case is impossible to guess at.
