Description
The Three Digit More or Less Worksheet gives second grade students eleven items of comparing and ordering practice with numbers in the hundreds. Comparing numbers is the skill of looking at the hundreds place first, then the tens, then the ones, and deciding whether one number is greater than, less than, or equal to another. This printable builds that habit with eight comparisons where the student writes the correct symbol in a box, and three ordering items where three numbers are rewritten from smallest to largest.
Part A holds eight pairs of three digit numbers. Some pairs share the same hundreds digit, so a student cannot answer them by glancing at the first digit and has to read on into the tens and ones. Two pairs are equal, which the original version of this page never showed, so the equals sign gets real practice instead of being mentioned and forgotten. Part B gives three sets of scrambled numbers built from the same digits, such as 524, 245 and 452, so ordering them means comparing place by place rather than recognizing which number looks longest. Every answer space is a printed box of the same size, so nothing on the page hints at which symbol belongs where.
