Florida FAST 3rd grade math test prep workbook cover

If you teach 3rd grade in Florida, you already know the feeling: the FAST is on the calendar, the benchmarks list is long, and you’re hunting for FAST 3rd grade math test prep at 9 p.m. with tomorrow still unplanned. We made this workbook so that hunt can stop.

The Florida FAST 3rd Grade Math Practice Test Workbook is our very first state test prep workbook. It’s aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. math benchmarks and built from the state’s published FAST test design, with original questions written in the same styles your students will see on test day.

It comes four ways: a Printable PDF, an Interactive Workbook that runs in the browser, a Bundle with both, and a full-color paperback on Amazon. Here’s what’s inside, how the interactive version works, and a simple plan for using it between now and spring.

The short version
  • A pretest, Learn It + practice for every assessed B.E.S.T. benchmark, mixed review, test-taking strategies, 2 full-length practice tests and a full answer key.
  • Printable PDF $9.99 · Interactive Workbook $9.99 · Bundle $14.99 · School License $49.97 · Paperback $29.99 on Amazon.
  • The Interactive Workbook reads directions, questions and answer choices aloud, and scores each section when students turn it in.
  • Try the first 10 pages of the Interactive Workbook free, no sign-up needed.
  • Members get the Printable PDF and the Interactive Workbook free, and can assign it in HFT Classroom.

What’s inside the FAST 3rd grade math test prep workbook

Every page has a job. The workbook follows the order you’d actually teach: find out what students know, teach the gaps, mix it all together, then rehearse the real thing.

Pretest + scoring guide

19 questions and a guide that shows which skills to teach first.

Learn It + practice

A worked example, then test-style practice, for all 34 assessed benchmarks.

Mixed review

39 questions that pull every reporting category together.

Test-taking strategies

Short, kid-friendly tips written for 3rd graders.

2 full-length practice tests

38 questions each, in FAST question styles, with bubble answer sheets.

Full answer key

All 342 answers, plus progress trackers, class data sheets and a certificate.

The question types match what students meet on the computer-based test: multiple choice, typed answers, matching, multiselect, drop-down choices and two-part questions. Kids who have already seen those formats can spend test day thinking about the math, not the buttons.

How does the Interactive Workbook work?

The Interactive Workbook is the same workbook, live in the browser. It runs on interactive whiteboards, touch panels, Chromebooks and tablets, and there’s nothing to install. It works like test day, so students practice the routine as well as the math.

  1. Everything reads aloud

Directions, questions and answer choices are read aloud, so reading never gets in the way of the math.

  2. Students answer, then turn in

Just like the real test: no hints and no instant right-or-wrong while they work.

  3. A score for each section

When a section is turned in, students see their score and which skills they’ve got.

  4. Skill Boosters

Missed a skill? A short Skill Booster gives three more questions on exactly that skill.

Want to see it first? The first 10 pages are free to try, read-aloud included, with no account needed. Open the free preview on your classroom board tonight and you’ll know in two minutes whether it fits your class.

Read-aloud means every student can focus on the math, not the reading.

Pick your format: Printable, Interactive, Bundle or Paperback

Every edition has the same questions, so you can mix them. Print the pretest, run the practice tests on Chromebooks, and keep a paperback on your desk for small groups.

Buying for your whole building? The School License ($49.97) covers the Printable PDF and the Interactive Workbook for every teacher and student in one school. You can also order the paperback on Amazon for $29.99.

A simple FAST 3rd grade math test prep plan for the year

Florida students take the FAST three times a year. The spring window (PM3) is the one that counts for accountability, and for 2026–27 it runs May 3–28, 2027. Here’s an easy way to spread the workbook across the year so April never turns into a cram session.

  1. Now: give the pretest

Score it with the guide and circle the skills each student needs most.

  2. Before PM2: teach the gaps

Use one Learn It + practice set a few times a week, in the order your pretest points to.

  3. Winter: mix it up

Mixed review keeps fall skills fresh while you teach new ones.

  4. March: Practice Test 1

Run it like test day, then reteach the skills that slipped.

  5. April: Practice Test 2

A second full run builds stamina and shows real growth.

  6. May: celebrate

Hand out the certificate. They worked hard for it.

Testing dates come from the state’s published 2026–27 schedule, and districts set their own days inside each window. For the benchmarks themselves and the latest test design, see the Florida Department of Education’s B.E.S.T. assessment page. Our Florida test prep page keeps every window in one place.

FAST 3rd grade math test prep: questions teachers ask

Is this workbook made by the Florida Department of Education?

No. Have Fun Teaching wrote every question from scratch. The workbook is aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. math benchmarks and built from the state’s published FAST test design, so it prepares students for the test, but it is an independent practice resource and does not use released state test items.

What’s the difference between the editions?

The Printable PDF ($9.99) is all 194 pages to print. The Interactive Workbook ($9.99) is the same workbook in the browser, read aloud and scored when students turn in each section. The Bundle ($14.99) gives you both. The School License ($49.97) covers one whole school. The paperback is $29.99 on Amazon.

Can I try the Interactive Workbook before I buy it?

Yes. The first 10 pages of the Interactive Workbook are free to try at havefunteaching.com, with read-aloud on and no account needed. Open it on your classroom board, a Chromebook or a tablet to see how the questions and the read-aloud work before you decide.

Is the workbook included in a Have Fun Teaching membership?

Yes. Members get the Printable PDF and the Interactive Workbook at no extra cost, and they can assign it to their class in HFT Classroom. The paperback is a printed book sold by Amazon, so it is not part of the membership. Memberships start with 3 free days.

When do Florida 3rd graders take the FAST math test?

The FAST is given three times a year. For 2026–27 the windows are PM1 in the fall, PM2 from November 30, 2026 to January 22, 2027, and PM3 from May 3 to May 28, 2027. PM3 is the spring test that counts for accountability. Districts choose their own days inside each window.
