Description
In this 2.G.1 Second Grade Common Core Lesson, students will recognize and draw shapes having specific attributes such as given number of angles or sides. Use the Shape Activity Cards to give clues to your partner. Read one clue at a time while your partner guesses the shape that is on the card. If your partner can guess the shape after Clue #1, they get 4 points. If they guess the shape after Clue #2, they get 3 Points, and so on. Players move the amount of spaces on the game board. First player to the end wins!
Teacher Directions for 2.G.1 Second Grade Common Core Lesson
In this lesson, students will give clues about different shapes to their partners to build their knowledge of different shapes. You may introduce the lesson by reviewing shapes using the Have Fun Teaching Shape Song. Then, distribute game boards and activity cards to partners. As students give clues and guess, circulate around the classroom to listen to discussions students have about different shapes. After the games are over, share students discussions that you heard to promote shape vocabulary like sides or angles.
