In this 2.NBT.8 Second Grade Common Core lesson, students mentally add 10 or 100 to a given number 100–900, and mentally subtract 10 or 100 from a given number 100–900.
Being able to mentally add and subtract by 10 and 100 gives your students a strategy to solve higher order math equations easily. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
Cut out the popcorn cards and sort into two piles, red and blue. For one minute, students flip one card per pile and answers the equation . Correct answers are placed in a separate pile.After the minute, student records the correct equation and answer in the Popcorn Math Sheet!
