This lesson teaches students how to read, write and compare decimals to the thousandths place value. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.

You are going to play “I have, who has?” First,read the clues on your card. Then, listen for a clue that gives your number as answer. Next, read both the “I have” and the “Who has” clues on your card. Finally, continue your practice with the provided worksheets independently or with a partner.

Use this Rainbow Place Value Activity as an additional resource for your students.

First, introduce this lesson by reviewing vocabulary related to place value. Ask students to give examples of different forms of numbers (expanded, written, number names, etc). Next, distribute materials to students. As students play “I have, Who has?”, circulate around the classroom and listen to discussions students have about reading decimals. After the activity, share students’ discussions that you heard to promote decimal reading skills. Finally, student can continue their practice using the provided worksheets individually or with a partner.
