Knowing where something is — above, below, between, or next to — is some of the very first academic vocabulary a young child needs. This Between Below Above Next To Fill in Blank Worksheet gives Kindergarten students four clear pictures and four short sentences so they can name the position of an object in words instead of just pointing at it. About This Worksheet
On this Between Below Above Next To Fill in Blank Worksheet, students look at a picture, read the sentence beside it, and write the missing position word on the line using the word bank printed at the top of the page. Each picture shows exactly one relationship — a red ball resting between two boxes, a bird flying above a nest, a puppy standing next to a tree, and a kitten sitting below a table — so every item has one right answer and nothing is ambiguous. Read the four word bank words aloud together first, point to each picture and talk about what you see, then let students finish the sentences on their own. The handwriting lines are wide and the type is large, so beginning writers have plenty of room. A full answer key is included on the second page.
