Description
Learning left from right is one of the first spatial skills a young child needs, and this circle left or right worksheet gives Kindergarten students focused practice with it. Before children can follow multi-step classroom directions, line up on the correct side, or track print across a page, they have to be able to look at a picture and decide whether something sits to the left or to the right. This activity turns that decision into eight quick, playful picture problems that a five-year-old can complete independently.
On this worksheet, a friendly clay puppy appears in every picture card beside a familiar object: an apple, a beach ball, a toy drum, a book, a cupcake, a rain boot, a kite, and a daisy. Students look at each card, decide where the puppy is standing, and circle the word left or the word right. Because the puppy switches sides in an unpredictable order, children cannot guess a pattern, so each card requires a fresh look.
