Georgia Worksheet

A state is easier to remember when a student meets it from two directions at once: the facts that make it its own place, and the map that shows where that place sits. Georgia is a good state to learn this way. Its farms grow more peanuts than any other state, its capital is one of the busiest cities in the country, and five different states share a border with it, which is more neighbors than most states have. This georgia worksheet puts the research and the map side by side on one page so fourth graders build both halves of that picture at the same time.

The top half is a short research task. Six labeled lines ask for the state bird, the state flower, the state tree, the state nickname, the state capital and the year Georgia became a state, so students can work from a book, an atlas or a class website and write each answer on its own line. The bottom half of this 4th grade states worksheet is a real map of the southeast, drawn from actual state outlines rather than a cartoon shape. Georgia is shaded and named, and each of the five states touching it carries a number, so students identify each neighbor and write its name on the matching line. A final question sends them back to the same map to name the two states along Georgia’s northern border, which asks them to read direction on a map instead of only recalling a name.
