How to teach Maps
Using this Map Scales Worksheet, students use a map scale to find locations on a map to build their map skills.
A map scale is a tool used to measure distances on a map. The Graphic Scale uses a line with separations marked by smaller intersecting lines. The map reader uses the scale along with a ruler.
Students read the scale’s conversion in inches to determine distances. Then, use a real road map to measure distances between one location and another.
