Description
Telling odd numbers from even ones is one of the first real number-sense skills a second grader owns, and the Odd Number Bee Maze Worksheet turns that skill into a puzzle worth solving. A child who can look at 779 and say “odd” without counting has learned that only the ones digit matters, and that single idea carries straight into halving, sharing, skip counting and later into multiplication. This page gives that idea something to do. Instead of a list of numbers to label, it hands the student a grid of thirty-six three-digit numbers and one honey bee who needs a route home to her hive. The only route is the one paved with odd numbers, so every cell the child colors is a decision made out loud, and a single wrong call sends the path into a dead end the child can see for herself.
This 2nd grade even and odd worksheet is a two-page set: page one holds the maze and the practice grid, page two is the complete answer key. Part A is the maze. Students color every odd number to reveal a connected path from START in the top-left corner to FINISH in the bottom-right, and because every odd number in the grid sits on that path, the solution is unique and self-checking. Part B gives six more three-digit numbers to sort the other way round: circle each odd number and put an X on each even number. Use it as morning work, as a math-center activity, as homework, or as a fast check before moving on to skip counting by twos.

There are three clear reasons this page helps children learn. First, the maze rewards the rule rather than the answer: a student who guesses has to keep guessing, while a student who checks the ones digit walks straight through.
