Second grade readers need the Dolch sight words to come off the page instantly, without sounding a single letter out, because those words carry most of what a child reads every day. This second grade sight words bingo worksheet turns that practice into a game the whole class can play together. The board holds twenty-four second grade Dolch words — been, both, does, many, right, which, would and more — set in large, clean type so every child can read a square from across the room. A teacher calls a word, the children hunt for it on their own boards, and the hunting is the practice.
Print one board for each student and hand out crayons, markers, or counters. Read a sight word aloud, give the class a moment to search, then let them color the box when they find it. The center square is free, so every board starts with one square filled. Play to a line, to four corners, or all the way to a full board; because the words are drawn fresh for this sheet, the game runs differently every time. How This Helps Kids Learn
First, it builds automatic recognition.
