This Triple Digit Adding Regroup Worksheet gives second graders six column problems and two word problems built on one skill: three digit addition with regrouping. Carrying is the step where column addition stops being counting and starts being place value, and it is the step most second graders need the most practice with. Every item on this page regroups, so a student never gets to skip the part they are here to learn.
The six column problems are sorted on purpose. Two of them carry out of the ones place only, two carry out of the tens place only, and two carry out of both, and they are scrambled down the page so a child cannot guess the next one from its position. No sum passes 999, no addend hides a zero, and no two problems share an answer. Part B then puts the same skill into two short word problems about pages read and stickers sold, so students practice choosing to add before they practice carrying. Every item on both parts is three digit addition with regrouping. A full answer key is included.

There are three reasons this 2nd grade addition worksheet helps children learn the skill.
