Skip counting is the bridge between counting one at a time and multiplying, and the Twos Fives and Tens Worksheet gives second graders focused practice with the three counts they use most. Students spot the rule behind a number pattern, keep counts going from starting points that are not zero, and use skip counting to solve real word problems. Counting by twos, fives, and tens also builds the number sense children need to count money, tell time, and add in their heads.
About This Worksheet
The Twos Fives and Tens Worksheet is a two page printable with an answer key. In Part A, students read six numbers in a row and write whether the numbers count by 2, 5, or 10. In Part B, they fill in the missing numbers in three longer patterns that start at 52, 15, and 60, so they cannot simply recite a memorized chant. In Part C, they read two short word problems about pairs of socks and boxes of crayons and skip count to find each total. Use it for morning work, a math center, a quick check after a lesson, or practice at home.

Ideas for Teachers and Parents
Warm up with a class count by twos, fives, and tens on a hundred chart, then hand out this 2nd grade skip counting worksheet. Ask students to explain how they found each rule in Part A before they start Part B. For an extension, have students write their own skip counting word problem about something that comes in equal groups, such as fingers on hands or wheels on bikes, and trade with a partner.
