The Valentine’s Day Fact Families Worksheet turns a holiday theme into real number sense. A fact family is a set of three numbers that make up two addition facts and two subtraction facts, and once a child sees that 14, 23 and 37 belong together, addition and subtraction stop being two separate subjects. This valentine’s day fact families worksheet gives students three families to work through, each one shown as a number triangle with one number missing.
Each card works the same way. The triangle holds the two parts at the bottom corners and the whole at the top, and one of those three numbers has been left blank. The student finds the missing number first, then writes it into the four facts beside the triangle. The families use two-digit numbers within fifty, which is squarely second-grade addition and subtraction, and every answer box is sized for a two-digit answer written by hand.
