How to teach Equivalent Fractions
Using this Will You Be My Equivalent Valentine Fractions Activity, students match fraction heart cards to the corresponding math problem strip.
Knowing and understanding equivalent fractions will help your students to add and subtract fractions in the future. This activity will allow your students to practice and build on their understanding of equivalent fractions.
In order to prepare this activity for your students, print on cardstock. Then, cut out math problem strips, fraction heart cards, and model fractions and laminate them for durability. Then, make copies of the Equivalent Fractions activity sheets for your students to turn in.
First, students will complete the fraction multiplication problem on the math problem strips. Then, they match the math problem strips to the corresponding fraction heart cards. Finally, students complete the Equivalent Fractions activity sheet. Once finished, challenge your students to draw models of the fractions.
