How to teach Sight Words

Using Word Recognition Activity, students travel through the movie theater game board and practice reading sight words.

Your students are going to read sight words on a daily basis. This activity helps your students practice their sight word recognition with this fun game.

Players take turns rolling the die and moving that many spaces on the game board. When landing on a spot, a player picks up three word cards to read. Words that are read correctly are placed on the popcorn tub. Words read incorrectly are placed at the bottom of the pile. Play continues until all players reach the end of the board game. The player who read and collected the most words is the winner! Players can write down the words they collected on the worksheet provided.
