This adding 2 digit numbers worksheet gives second grade students twelve column-addition problems that every one of them requires regrouping. Carrying a ten out of the ones column is the step where two-digit addition either clicks or falls apart, so this page does not mix in easy problems that let a student coast: each item forces the ones digits past nine, which means the child has to write the carried ten and remember it while adding the tens.
The problems are set in a clean three-by-four grid of cards, one problem per card, with the addends stacked in true place-value columns and a solid line under each one. Students write the sum below the line, exactly as they will on a test. The numbers were chosen so nothing on the page can be answered from a pattern: no addend contains a zero, no addend or sum repeats, and the sums do not run in order down the page.
