Every animal grows and changes on its own path from birth to adult, and that path is called a life cycle. Some insects change so much along the way that the young and the adult look like two different creatures, while others hatch looking like small copies of their parents. This animal life cycles worksheet gives 3rd graders a clear, hands-on way to tell those two patterns apart. Students learn the four stages of complete metamorphosis — egg, larva, pupa, adult — and the three stages of incomplete metamorphosis — egg, nymph, adult — then apply both to real insects they can find in a backyard or a schoolyard.
