Use this Compare and Contrast Worksheet as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by comparing two books you have recently read. Next, show students how they can record their ideas in a graphic organizer. Then, have students read the two texts, “A Chat with Dog Trainer Gail Mirabella” (article from Time for Kids Magazine) and Housebreaking Herschel by Andrew Frinkle. Once they have read both texts, they complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, challenge your students to use the graphic organizer to fill out while reading another text.
