Teachers will read any non-fiction text of their choosing. Then, they use the graphic organizers to arrange the ideas and concepts you gather from informational texts.

Introduce this activity by having students share the events of their morning in order. Next, tell your morning but in a mixed up order. Ask students why it’s important to keep events or directions in order. With your students help, create an anchor chart of different types of text structures. You could also include texts that you have read as a class for reference. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, students use the graphic organizer as they read other books.
