Description
A complete sentence needs a subject and a predicate and expresses a whole thought. A group of words that is missing one of those parts is an incomplete sentence, also called a fragment. The Complete Incomplete Chocolate Sentences Worksheet gives fourth graders a sweet way to practice spotting fragments and fixing them, using facts and fun about chocolate, cacao beans and hot cocoa.
In Part A, students read six groups of words and write C for complete or I for incomplete in each box. In Part B, they finish three sentences by adding a predicate that tells what the subject is or does. In Part C, they add a subject that tells who or what to three more sentences. Encourage students to ask two questions about every sentence: Who or what is it about? What happens? If either answer is missing, it is a fragment.
