Before a child can carry a ten, she has to be quick and confident at adding two-digit numbers whose columns never spill over. That is exactly what the Double Digit Addition without Regrouping Worksheet drills. Each problem stacks a two-digit number over another two-digit number, the ones column adds to nine or less, the tens column adds to nine or less, and the answer is written straight under the line. Nothing has to be regrouped, so the student can put all of her attention on keeping the ones under the ones and the tens under the tens.
