How to teach Division
Using this Down in the Sea Division Activity, students apply concepts of place value and division to a set of division problems and sort the equations according to the answers of 10, 100, or 1,000.
Knowing your multiplication and division facts fluently helps your students to perform more difficult math tasks. If you know your division facts, your students will be able to multiply as well. This activity is a fun way for your students to put their division skills to practice.
Print this activity on cardstock. Cut out and laminate for a longer-lasting small group activity. Then, pass out materials. Students will use the answer cards to create categories of 1,000, 100, and 10. Next, students will apply concepts of place value and division in order to sort the equations into the appropriate categories. Finally, students will use the Down in the Sea Division Worksheet to circle the answer to the equations.
