Can your child draw a shape just by reading its rules? This drawing shapes according to the rules worksheet helps second graders connect what a shape looks like to the attributes that define it, such as the number of sides, the number of angles, straight or curved sides, and flat faces. Knowing those defining attributes is a key 2nd grade geometry skill, and it is the first step toward naming and sorting shapes with confidence.
The worksheet has a word bank of six shape names and six rule cards. Students read each rule, draw a shape that follows it in the drawing box, and then find the matching name in the word bank and write it on the line. Every word in the bank is used one time. The answer key shows a sample drawing and the correct name for each card.
