How to teach Reading Comprehension and the Seasons of the Year
Once upon a time, in a magical forest, there lived a friendly dragon named Egor and a clever frog named Ted. Egor and Ted loved the autumn season. They thought it was the most exciting time of the year!
One sunny day, Egor and Ted decided to go on an autumn adventure. They put on their scarves and set off to explore the forest. As they walked, the leaves on the trees turned brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow.
“Autumn is here!” Egor roared with excitement.
Ted nodded, “Yes, and I love how the leaves change color.”
Their first stop was by a sparkling pond. The water sparkled like diamonds, and colorful leaves floated on its surface. Ted hopped from one leaf to another while Egor blew tiny bursts of fire, making the leaves spin in the air.
Next, they visited a Pumpkin Patch, where they met Mrs. Rabbit. She was looking for the biggest pumpkin to make a yummy pumpkin pie. Egor and Ted helped her find the plumpest pumpkin, and Mrs. Rabbit was very grateful.
As they continued their adventure, they saw a family of squirrels. The squirrels were busy collecting acorns for the winter. Egor used his strong wings to help them reach the acorns high in the trees. The squirrels were overjoyed and invited Egor and Ted to join them for an acorn feast.
Finally, they reached a sunflower field as the sun began to set. The field was covered in golden sunflowers, and it looked like a sea of sunshine. Egor and Ted decided to have a picnic there, enjoying sandwiches, crunchy apples, and a tasty berry pie. They even made a new friend, a friendly ladybug who joined them for dessert.
As the sky turned shades of orange and pink, Egor and Ted knew that autumn was the most exciting season of all.

Reading comprehension is a critical skill for kids to develop as it serves as the foundation for their overall academic success and future life skills. Here are five reasons why reading comprehension is so important for kids:
Academic Achievement: Reading comprehension is essential for success in almost all school subjects. Whether it’s understanding a history textbook, solving math word problems, or comprehending scientific concepts, strong reading comprehension skills enable children to excel academically.
Critical Thinking: It encourages critical thinking and problem-solving. When kids comprehend what they read, they engage in active thinking processes. They ask questions, make inferences, and draw conclusions, which are crucial skills for tackling complex issues in both school and life.
Communication Skills: Reading comprehension enhances kids’ communication skills. It helps them express themselves clearly, articulate their thoughts, and understand the perspectives of others. This skill is valuable for effective communication in school, social interactions, and future career opportunities.
Lifelong Learning: Strong reading comprehension fosters a love for reading and lifelong learning. When children can understand and enjoy reading, they are more likely to seek out books, articles, and information beyond what is required for school, expanding their knowledge throughout their lives.
Empathy and Empowerment: Reading comprehension exposes children to different cultures, experiences, and perspectives. This broadens their horizons and fosters empathy, helping them understand and relate to people from diverse backgrounds. It also empowers them with knowledge and information, enabling them to make informed decisions and contribute positively to their communities.
In summary, reading comprehension is a fundamental skill that not only supports academic achievement but also promotes critical thinking, communication, a love for learning, and empathy. Nurturing this skill in children equips them with the tools they need to succeed academically and thrive in various aspects of life.
