How to teach Ending Sounds
Using the Ending Sound D T P Worksheet, students use the pictures to decide if the ending sound is a D, T, or P.
Being able to identify the ending sounds helps students read and write words. This activity gives them practice using common words that they will encounter in their reading.
This activity has nine picture. Students say the word aloud that matches the picture. Then, students sound out the ending sound. Finally, students write the letter that matches the sound that they said.

Introduce this activity by reviewing letter sounds using the Have Fun Teaching What Do the Letters Say Song. First, create an anchor chart with the three categories – D ,T, and P. Have students provide examples that match those sounds. Then, students complete worksheet independently or with a partner. Finally, have students come up with more words to add to your anchor chart.
