Use this Context Clues Worksheet as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this lesson by writing sentences with made up words or blanks in them. Ask students to help you figure out what words would go in the blank or what the word means. Next, create an anchor chart with your students about strategies they can use to figure out unknown words. Then, distribute materials for students to practice figuring out unknown words. As students work, circulate around the classroom to listen to student discussions’ about context clues. After the activity, share students discussions that you heard to promote context clues skills. Finally, students can continue their practice using the provided worksheets.
