How to teach Writing with Technology
Using Let’s Publish My Writing Activity, students write about the topic or prompt until you have typed one page using computer skills.
Typing is a very important skill for our students to be able to do. Our students need lots of practice to learn how to type quickly. This activity will give your students to opportunity to practice typing while writing about a topic they know a lot about.
Choose a writing prompt card. Then, students write on that topic using the computer in order to write one full page. Once finished typing, students share their writing with a classmate.

Introduce this activity by students sharing strategies for how to type on the computer. Next, students practice typing on the computer. Then, distribute the activity materials so students can begin their writing. As students work, circulate to support students come up with more information that they can write about if they are struggling. Also, give feedback about finger placement if you see students typing with one finger. Finally, students give feedback on their writing presentations. Once finished, students can share their writing through a gallery walk or other presentation.
