How to teach Shapes
Using the Know Your Shapes Worksheet, students categorize shapes as two-dimensional or 3-dimensional to build shape recognition skills.
Some shapes are flat (2-dimensional or 2-D) and some shapes have thickness (3-dimensional or 3-D). A cracker is a 2-dimensional circle. A basketball is a 3-dimensional sphere.
Students look at the pictures below. Then, color 2-D shapes blue and 3-D shapes red.
