Description
Telling time to the hour is the first real clock skill a child owns, and this Showing Time Worksheet practices it in both directions. Reading a dial means noticing two different hands: a short, heavy hour hand that points at a number, and a long minute hand that points straight up at the 12 when the time is exactly o’clock. Children who can name that pattern stop guessing and start reading the clock the way an adult does.
This 1st grade clocks worksheet gives nine coded analog clocks in two parts. In Part A, six clocks already show a time and the child writes it in the box underneath. In Part B, three clocks are blank, the digital time is printed below, and the child draws the hour hand and the minute hand to match. Flipping the task halfway down the page is what makes it stick: writing 7:00 from a picture and drawing 9:00 from the numbers are two different pieces of thinking, and a student who can do both truly understands the hour. Every dial is drawn to real clock geometry with sixty tick marks and twelve numerals, so nothing on the page teaches a shortcut a real clock does not use.
